Week 4 - Day 1 & 2
Shortly after the campers arrived here at Hye Camp, the first day was filled with fun activities. After everyone got settled in to their cabins, their exciting cabin themes such as "The Kebab Crew" and "Miss Armenia" were revealed to them. The campers then walked down to the fire drill, dressed up in their cabin themes and learned about the safety rules and procedures at camp. Soon after the staff members introduced themselves at orientation, we had a chapel service followed by a delicious dinner. The campers all went up to the cabins after dinner to dress in their warm clothing for the ice cream social and the first campfire of the week. After a fun-filled evening of singing, dancing, and skits, the campers returned to their cabins to rest for the exciting week ahead!!!
The next morning, following chapel and breakfast, the campers hurried up to their cabins to clean for cabin clean-up. Cabin's 8 & 4 were the winners of cabin cleanup and they will recieve frozen yogurt as a prize! Morning classes included ice-breakers, so the campers could get to know each other, and lessons on Armenian history and culture. After lunch, campers participated in activities such as, volleyball, basketball, archery, and arts and crafts. Archbishop Hovnan Derderian then led us in our evening chapel service. After dinner, everyone gathered to pose for the group camp picture. We are all so excited to continue to make even more fun memories and life-long friends here at Hye Camp!
